Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

This June come on out and get your check booklets at your nearest Certified Farmers Markets. The Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging will be out to distribute your booklets. Here's some more information on the Senior Farmer's Market Program:

Purpose

The federally funded Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program is a program which provides seniors with a check booklet that can be used to purchase fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs from Certified Farmers’ Markets (CFM) to low-income seniors.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture, partners with 32 of California’s Area Agencies on Aging to distribute the check booklets which include five checks redeemable for $4 each. The AAAs serves this purpose well because they administer several senior programs on a local level either directly or through their affiliation with senior organizations.

Thank You!

To all those who attended the 47th annual Senior Day in the Park, the Kings/Tulare Area Agency on Aging would like to thank you. The event was a great success, rain or shine!

We could not have done it without the tremendous help from the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency Staff, Sycamore Valley Students, Leadership Visalia, CSET Senior Services and the CSET Corp Members whom all volunteered their time.

Senior Day in the Park could not have been possible without the help from our sponsors. A great number of community partners made monetary and in-kind donations which was a fantastic community effort.
